Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Gonzalez-Collins is a Mexican American journalist. She is employed by ESPN as a SportsCenter anchor for news. She joined ESPN in the year 2016. She is the daughter of television reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins is a bilingual woman and has been so since when she was nine years old. This skill has helped her get her first job with Univision, Miami. She could work with national producers on programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud Primer Impacto. She was hired as a reporter for The CBS St. Petersburg affiliate in the following year. In 2009, she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a journalist at KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. Covering stories on the issue of immigration and drug trafficking from both sides of the border, she served as a reporter on the 5 p.m. Spanish newscast a reporter and later anchor of the 9 p.m. newscast in English as well as an anchor for the at 10 p.m. Spanish newscast. Her duties as an anchor for weather or sports were also frequently asked for. Then she anchor and wrote on Univision's Dallas affiliate Deportes 23 where she was assigned more responsibility. She created pieces for Major League Baseball ALDS ALCS and World Series as well Dallas Cowboys NBA postseason finals FC Dallas, and Dallas Stars. She also hosted the local Univision 23 sports show Accion Deportiva Extra. She was the anchor for sports on Despierta America Deportes morning show. She worked in the same position as Primer Impacto on UniMas Network as well as Contacto Deportivo for its magazine show. Antonietta's parents were originally of Veracruz Mexico. They eventually moved towards Mexico City, where Antonietta Collins was born on November of 1985. She also has a younger sibling. Her family relocated to Miami in 1992 following the departure from Mexico. Her parents divorced within a short time and in 1995, she was married an naval designer by the name of Fabio Fajardo. Fabio Fajardo passed away in 2006 from kidney cancer. In the course of a family holiday in Ohio, younger Collins was able to take a job alongside her elder sister. Antonietta is a senior in high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union is the right choice to her needs, Antonietta visited the school. In the end, she fell in love with the university. And they offered her an academic major. After high school, she graduated and was enrolled in media studies at the university. Mark Bergmann was her professor and the manager of WRMU in which she's a part. They developed a close relationship. He was the one who boosted her confidence and whose passion for journalism deeply touched her. As a result, she determined to meet his demands, never letting him down.
